Game of Thrones Season 2 finale
The second season of Game of Thrones has just ended and the fans are already looking forward to the next season. A year seems as a long time to wait for our return to Westeros, especially for those who haven’t read the book because Internet is full of spoilers, which is why I bought the books after watching the first season and I have already finished them. Let’s make a quick analysis of what I liked in this season
My first thought after the final chapter: This season was awesome, and what a way to finish the season. The white walkers will play an important role in the upcoming events involving the night watch and the wildlings. Poor crows, they still don’t know what they are going to face. Things are going to be very interesting beyond the wall, especially with the confrontation between Mance Rayder (who has only been mentioned this season) and Jon Snow. Ygritte was a little different from what I had imagined but she was cool and funny.
In Winterfell things got really interesting thanks to Theon Greyjoy . Poor crazy man, his doubts and insecurities took him to a dangerous place. I really enjoyed this character I bit more in the series than in the books, I suppose that I have to thank Alfie Allen for that, nice acting. The farewell between Maester Luwin and Bran, Rickon, Hodor and Osha was emotive and gave a proper goodbye to Winterfell. Anyway, we will see more of it in the future.
In the south the war continues. The storylines of Stannis, Tywin and all the characters in King’s Landing reached as incredible climax in the 9th chapter entitled “Blackwater”. As in the first season, this is the chapter that has the strongest scenes and events. This was the chapter that defined the season and I have to say that they almost achieved perfection with it. Tyrion, the Hound, Sansa, Joffrey, Cersei, Shae, Varys, etc. all of them had a moment to shine. It’s funny how the hashtag #TyrionForPresident has become so popular in twitter during the emission of the show. Peter Dinklage has done an amazing work, and in this 9th chapter he was the soul of the battle and the defense of King’s Landing.
What’s next for our beloved characters? With Stannis defeated the battle will continue against Robb. A new alliance has been formed between the Lannisters and the Tyrells. The crows will have some unexpected guests from beyond the wall. Bran and Rickon have just started their journey. Jon will be meeting some new wildling friends. Brienne and Jaime are having a nice time to know each other. Daenerys recovered her little babies and will continue her travel to find a way to return to Westeros. Tyrion will have to maintain his place after losing the Hand’s title; and many things more.
